Overview
Deadsimple is a voice-first task capture app built for speed and privacy. The app stores your task data locally on your device and does not require an account. This policy explains the limited data flows that power voice capture, intent parsing, and app settings.

Information We Process
- Voice transcripts: When you press-and-hold the capture button, Deadsimple records audio on-device and converts it to text using Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer. The raw audio is never uploaded or stored once transcription completes.
- Task items: Tasks, reminders, and their metadata are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. Tasks remain on your device unless you manually share them outside the app.
- App settings: Speech language preferences and haptic toggles are stored in UserDefaults on your device.
How Voice Data Is Handled
Voice capture runs locally through Apple's audio APIs. After transcription, Deadsimple sends the resulting text to our backend service to extract task intent. The transcript is included in that request, but the backend does not receive your raw audio and does not persist the transcript or tasks after returning a response. We do not send personally identifiable information unless you include it in your dictated task.
Third-Party Services
- Apple Speech Services: Provides on-device speech recognition. Usage is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Deadsimple backend service: Processes text transcripts to detect multiple tasks and reminder times. Requests are transmitted over HTTPS and no persistent profiles are created. The service processes your request and immediately forgets it, storing nothing.
Data Retention
All task data, transcripts, and settings are kept locally on your device. Deleting the app removes the associated data. We do not maintain remote backups or analytics logs, and our backend discards request payloads immediately after producing an intent response.
User Controls
- Task management: You can edit or delete any task from the main list. Undo is available for the ten most recent changes.
- Transcript cleanup: If backend parsing fails, Deadsimple shows the raw transcript for manual editing before it is saved.
- Permissions: You can revoke microphone access at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
Security
Deadsimple relies on iOS sandboxing, data protection, and secure networking provided by Apple. All outbound requests to our backend use TLS encryption. We do not implement additional account-based authentication because the app's data stays on your device.
Children's Privacy
Deadsimple is intended for general audiences and does not target children under 13. We do not collect personal information from children knowingly. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us for deletion assistance.
